Staff at Eye Can See Clearly has been very busy in the last few months! We went to the CSUN conference in Los Angeles and viewed all the latest technology for low vision. New products we are carrying include the 10X lighted makeup mirror and the VERY large button cordless phone with the latest 5.8G technology. Check out our product page for more information on these. There are several new ideas that were displayed at the show, but we feel that some of them are premature as they are not yet 100 percent user friendly. NEW PRODUCTS at Eye Can See Clearly! Eye Can See Clearly is now offering yellow LED light hand held magnifiers! Customers are telling us that yellow lighted magnification is many times easier on the eyes. Also new are our products to help the diabetic community. We now carry a magnifier for syringes, a large print diabetic log, and a talking blood glucose meter! The talking blood glucose meter is currently being tested by one of our customers and we should have some feedback very soon. Initial results look promising! Have you been frustrated trying to type on your standard computer keyboard? Eye Can See Clearly carries two different keyboard solutions! Our large key Visionboard 2 keyboard is designed for the person who has never typed and has low vision requirements. The keys are the largest we have seen! The Visikey computer keyboard is a standard size keyboard with letters and numbers that are over 400 percent larger than standard keyboards. Keys are black with white printing. The Visikey is a good choice for those with low vision but are able to touch type. Check out both these wonderful products online in our products section!

Thanks to all our customers, Eye Can See Clearly had it’s most active holiday season! The biggest items this year were our Jumbo Large button TV remote which we believe is the largest made, and the Big Keys computer keyboard.

Eye Can See Clearly is now proud to carry Powermag Yellow LED light magnifiers! These magnifiers have a strong LED light and come in powers ranging from 3X – 14X. Many people who have Macular Degeneration, Glaucoma, or other visual difficulties are finding that yellow lights do help reading.

Rick has just returned from the CSUN conference in Los Angeles. He spent a great day seeing all the new low vision products available. Most of the products were forms of electronic magnification. He did meet the presidents of Magnisight, Telesensory and Optelec, which are products that he carries in the stores. The president of Telesensory was especially interested in Rick’s feedback about a new CCTV in the making. Another company just getting starting in the low vision field is making a portable electronic magnifier which will magnify up to 20X and can be mounted on a pole for seated viewing! This engineer also appreciated some of Rick’s comments. It seems like many of the manufacturers making low vision products are sighted and appreciate the feedback of someone who is a potential user.

Rick did purchase a new product from the show – the Talking Pen! This pen is a small scanner the size of a highlighting pen which will scan a line of text and read it back. It can be hooked up to computer speakers or an included headphone.

We also are testing a talking blood glucose meter for those visually impaired people who are diabetic. We should have the results next week on how easy it is to use.
